The Chainsaw Proctologists came roaring back in the top of the ninth to spoil
the anticipated celebration of the hometown fans. The final score,, was 6 to
4.
Chainsaw erupted with the game winning runs in the top of the 9th inning
scoring 5 runners on 4 hits. The big moment was provided by Aaron Hill who
quieted the home crowd when he delivered a single scoring two baserunners.
Chainsaw and SSB each finished the afternoon with 10 hits.
The victory was credited to Jason Bergmann(2-3) who went 3 innings, allowing
no runs. Kevin Gregg(1-1) was hit with the loss in relief. His ERA ballooned
from 4.08 to 5.16 as he allowed 4 runs in 1 inning.
After the game, it took a long while before Craig Ahrndt emerged from his
office. In a subdued tone he answered only a couple of questions. He
concluded with, 'Fellows, sorry I'm not in a very talkative mood this
afternoon, as I think you'll understand. I'm sure you'll find the banter a
lot more light-hearted over in the Chainsaw locker room.'
